The Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project was set in motion by the City of Glendale, Arizona to advance their downtown economic growth with an ambitious, multi-tiered mission: Reimagine the underutilized downtown campus into a vibrant community hub, Modernize (x7) facilities into a state-of-the-art workplace, Update building designs to elevate Glendale’s civic image, Streamline public services into a City Hall "One-Stop Shop," and Transform the amphitheater into a premier performance destination.

Investigating the Problem

Holly Street Studio (Architect), Lightvox Studio (Associate Architect) + Colwell Shelor (Landscape Architect) gather to explore existing campus conditions.

Design Process

Working directly with the Owner and City Staff, we established a clear spatial framework floor-by-floor, bringing light, intuitive navigation, and beautiful finishes that add color and warmth to daily municipal work.

Perserverance

HSS + Lightvox and engineers strategically relocated an outdated ground-level water cooling tower to make way for a welcoming entry plaza, carved floor slabs to establish new vertical connections, and upgraded the building envelope for maximum thermal efficiency and a dynamic window pattern facing the park.

Open for Business
